Is root shadowing, root stretching & colour melts the same as balayage?

These techniques are alike in that they all soften the contrast between your natural root colour and lighter tones—but each has its own unique effect:

Root Shadowing: A slightly deeper shade is applied at the roots and blended into the rest of your hair. This adds depth and creates a soft, natural transition without any harsh lines.

Root Stretching: Like root shadowing, but the darker shade is blended further down the hair, giving a longer, more gradual fade.

Colour Melt: Multiple shades are blended seamlessly from root to tip, so there’s no clear line where one colour ends and the next begins. This creates the most dimensional, blended finish of the three.

Do I need a skin test?
